Kids walk for water in Africa

Children in many African villages walk 2km to fill up their gerry cans with water.  They walk because there is no drinking water at their village or school.  Mostly barefoot, they walk along dirt paths carrying heavy cartons of water on their heads the entire trip home.

Kids walk for water is a non-profit organization of all-volunteers raising money to provide clean water and sanitation for schools in Africa.  In essence we are kids helping kids.  Our volunteers are school aged children who would like to give African children a better quality of life through safe drinking water and improved sanitation.  Every donation makes a difference in the lives of these children.  For just $2.00 you can provide water access for one African child in our current project.  Imagine their life without a daily trip to find water.

Through our partnership with H20 for Life Schools and Drop-in-the-Bucket, your donation will go directly to building water wells and sanitation solutions in African villages. Please read about our current project in Uganda.

Current Project

Our current project is located at Bulyantete Fellowship Day and Boarding Primary School in Uganda.  Over 816 children, of which 436 girls and 380 boys attend school. Money for buying shoes and school uniforms is scarce.  102 of the students are orphans due to HIV/AIDS.

This project site was selected by an amazing group of Monte Vista High School students, dedicated to raising money to help communities in Africa build soccer fields adjacent to schools.  Please visit their site, FundaField, to hear more about their journey from ideas to completion of over 6 fields.  These fields are usually the only community center many villages have.  Providing a water well next to a school, serves the entire community.
